<p>Reaction product of dimethylolpropionic acid with an epoxy resin having an epoxy equivalent 180-530 (e.g reaction product of epichlorohydrin and bisphenol A) prepd. at 135-180 degrees C in the absence of an esterification catalyst opt. in the presence of a diacid (e.g. azelaic) and/or a diol (e.g. 1,4 butane diol). Products, which are pref. neutralised by amine (e.g. dimethylaminoethanol), are hardenable at low temp. (e.g. by melamine-formaldehyde condensates) to give resins useful for coatings, mouldings, adhesives, laminates.</p> |
