Penicillin and cephalosporin oxofuryl esters - with antibacterial activity after oral administration

Title cpds. of formula (I): and their acid addn. salts (where in which R3 is H or acetoxy; R1 and R2 are H or lower alkyl, or R1+R2 is -CH=CHCH=CH-; and is a single or double bond) are readily absorbed in the intestinal tract after oral administration and show antibacterial activity after cleavage of the ester bond in vivo; they are stable towards beta-lactamase.
