The steel contains 23-32% Cr, 28-38% Ni, 7-12% W, 0-4.5% Mo, 0-8.9% Co, 0.25-0.90% C, 0-0.06% S, 0-0.06% P, 0-0.25% N and elements for improving the smelt, in addition to Fe and impurities. It has better mechanical strength both at room temp. and high temps. e.g. 1000 degrees C, than conventional high alloy Cr-Ni steels and is used when good mechanical properties at high temps. combined with resistance to the surrounding atmosphere are required. Cast, wrought and welded articles can be produced.
