[Also in Division H2] A device for stripping a wire and bending it over a connector lug when the device is pushed over the lug as described in the French Specification 1,260,144 and U.S.A. Specification 3,110,329 is improved by the use of a member which both guides and supports the connector lug and which is slidably mounted on the tool which may be in the form of a pistol having a handle 8 and lever 9 constituting the trigger. In one embodiment the member consists of a slidable rod 5 upon which is mounted a V-shaped block containing a slot which supports the lug. When the tool is pushed towards the bore of the lug the lug slides in the slot 10 until the block 4 abuts the base when the guide member and lug slide together so pushing the lug into the recess in the tool. The lug is thereby given support at both ends. Further movement of the tool causes the wire on the lug to enter the baring device so stripping the insulation. The slide rod 5 is returned to its previous position by the spring 18. In a further embodiment the guide member is U-shaped to allow the wires to run down the side of the lug to its foot inside the guide member. |
