<p>Continuous multifilament yarn is textured by passing it through a heater to be plasticized, applying a primary twist e.g. by a friction wheel, applying a secondary twist in the same direction e.g. by a second friction wheel as it leaves the first twisting device so that there is a region between the two twisting devices where the yarn is relieved of twist, stopping twist by a device to prevent it running back into the heating zone and providing a tension leveller to hold the tenion of the yarn in the apparatus constant. The length of the twisted yarn is maintained precisely constant and there is no tendency for the untwisting to run back into this zone. Thus the uniformity in the finished yarn is improved and it does not have bristle-like formations. A fabric having a suede-like band can be produced from the yarn.</p> |
