<p>Surgical dressing package with an air cushion comprises a small inflatable plastic ring, containing sterile gauze connected with surrounding muslin and bandage and contained in a closed package. In use, the ring is inflated and laid around the edge of the wound, and is fixed over the wound with the attached bandage, which is held away from the wound by the air space due to the ring, so that damage to healing tissue is not produced on removal. The inflated ring can, because of its elasticity, be adapted to the size or shape of the wound, using adhesive plaster.</p> |
