Fin mechanically stripped from large blow moulding esp barrel - by knife guided along one arm of holding tongs

A devce for separating the fin or flash from the base of a large plastics blow moulding opens, the blow moulding is removed by a clamp gripping the fin projecting upwards from the base of the inverted barrel. Beneath this clamp is a pair tongs which grips the fin and takes over the barrel from the clamp; one arm of this pair of tongs comprises a guide, esp. a T-shaped groove, along which the cutting tool is positively guided as it travels across the base of the barrel to cut the fin from the base seam, soi that the barrel can fall freely to a collecting point. The device is esp. for stripping the fin from the base seam of a large blow moulding, where the operation previously has been carried out by hand. The automatic arrangement considerably speeds up and facilitates the removal of the fin, and avoids the need for personnel to approach a large, hot moulding.
