The present design eliminates the shortcomings of sudden valve opening by compensating the pressures in front and behind the plug by providing an equalising passage through the valve stem connecting the two sides. The plug is held in closed position only by force of the spring 15, the sliding sealing plunger 18 prevents leakage to the outside and as there is no fluid pressure on the plug 13, the valve can be operated in a gradual, controlled fashion. The push rod operated stem in inlet space is fitted with plunger and pressure compensation device.
