Propulsive charge, notably for anti-tank rockets, comprises an assembly of bands of propellant arranged parallel to and around the axis of the combustion chamber. The bands of propellant have a parallelepipedal contour and are arranged annularly around the axis of the cylindrical body; they carry ribbons of a combustion inhibitor at the longitudinal external edges which bear against the internal wall of the body, with an intervening refractory lining. The bands form a single block with an internal ring, made of the same propellant and co-axial with the axis of the cylinder. They can be made by extrusion of a single block, by moulding or machining. Erosive combustion is prevented by the prodn. of an overpressure at the start of combustion followed by a gradually increasing press. during a part of the combustion period. The inhibitor helps to minimise the effects of the initial overpressure.
|
