Pantyhose is knitted on circular knitting machines from at least three tubular members which are attached to each other. Each tubular member is knitted in succession using all the needles of the needle cylinder and the finished tubular member is held in an inoperative position by the needle shafts whilst the following tubular member is being knitted.
