<p>The wiper blade (13) is moulded in one process with the backing strip (11). The blade is wedge shaped, with the wiping end wider than the upper end where it forms a narrow neck (16) before widening into the ba cking strip. The neck enables the blade edge to flex with the wiping strokes. The angle between the blade edge and the backing strip is obtuse, as is the angle between the blade edge and the the windscreen. This prevents the build-up of ice layers in sharp corners, and the eventual blocking of the blade action. The blade is thus self clearing. The backing strip has sloping upper edges (10) to give it a low profile and to interact with the slipstream and press the blade onto the windscreen.</p> |
