Application of aphrite from sugar refining as fertiliser - by spraying or sprinkling

Aphrite, a form of calcite (CaCO3) formed as a by-product in sugar refining, is applied as a fertiliser and soil improver by spraying or sprinkling it over the land. The aphrite can be used directly from the drum filters in which it is sepd. from the refined juice, without intermediate drying. The moist aphrite from the drum filters is slurried with water in a mixer, and the resulting pumpable slurry is transported to the site of application in a tanker. It can be applied by means of a conventional liq.-manure spreader.
