Cell links are sprayed with plastics and they are passed through partitions between cells. There are several terminal lugs (4) which are close to the partition (5) on both sides, and they have an insert (6) of a heat and electrolyte resistant material, which forms the upper edge of the channel produced by the partition (5) and lug sides (4a). Plastics material is injected into the channel under pressure, filling and sealing it. The lugs (4) are welded together to provide a good electrical connection between the cells of the battery, and the connections are then covered with the sprayed on plastics coating (9).
