A portable television camera is mounted on a belt (5) worn around an operators waist. A vidicon tube (1) hand held by the operator is connected to a synchronization and scanning control unit (2) by means of a cable (8). A power unit (3) supplies the various elements of the camera and a monitor (4) which is suspended about the operators neck in use so as to provide an image of the scene viewed by the tube (1), to the operator. A transmitter (7) may connect the camera to a remote television network.
