The change-over contacts of the electromagnetic switch are forcibly guided. Each change-over switching is accompanied at the beginning and terminating phase by a relative movement between moving middle contacts a rigid outer contacts. The flat armature (4) of the electromagnetic switch has pivoting end, carrying an insulator (5) with several elongated middle spring contacts (6), which are at right angles to the air gap plane. Preferably each middle spring contact is U-shaped and has two flexing points and a rigid shank clamped in the switch base plate (1). The insulator on the flat armature may be firmly engaged with the shank carrying contact rivets (6a). The rigidity of the clamped shank may be a stiffening element.
