A roll for transferring aqueous humidifying agents in litho-printing, esp. offset printing is basically of an elastic material (e.g. butyl rubber) with a facing of hydrophilic water-soluble polymer (e.g. (meth)acrylic acid) and is bonded in a water-insoluble manner to the surface of the roll by graft polymerisation. Used as a humidifying roll for wetting the non-inked areas of lithoplates. The roll has high abrasion resistance and mechanical strength and has a water-attracting surface, which repels ink when wet.
