<p>The device gives a warning when a pressure drop occurs in a container of compressed gas having a valve, pref. a pneumatic-tyre on a vehicle. It comprises an acoustic-alarm device fitted with a whistle which is actuated by the gas in the container. The escape of gas to the atmosphere causes the whistle to sound when the pressure in the container falls below a known, pre-defined value representing the alarm threshold. The valve opens under the action of a spring which opposes the effect of gas pressure on the valve and thus actuates the whistle. The device may be engineered into the form where it can simply replace the normal valve fitted to a pneumatic tyre. The alarm threshold can be adjusted.</p> |
