The suspension system for a road vehicle has each wheel carried on the end of a swinging arm the other end of which is fixed to a half shaft. The half shaft support has raidla fixing pads (5) from each of which extends a flexible block (6) of elastomer in a peripheral direction and in that of the half shaft when the wheel is on the ground. The blocks are held firmly to the pads by adhesive and a metal tube (7) goes through them and presses on their ends (8). The end of the half shaft goes through a flexible bush (13), fixed on the fixing pad.
