The invention relates to a ridge-covering element which can be installed beneath ridge tiles and is in the form of an elongate covering slab which is arched in cross-section. The covering slab of the ridge-covering element is provided, in the region intended for overlapping, with a step (3') which reaches beyond the arch and is of the height of the material thickness of the ridge tiles located thereon. Sealing strips (13) are laid beneath the roofing-side edges of the ridge-covering element. The ridge-covering element is produced preferably such that its length corresponds to two ridge tiles. <IMAGE>
