Large food processing vessel fat separator - has surface jets, helical conveyor and heated collector tank

Floating matter is removed from the surface of the water in the separator for e.g. a large food processing tank by jets (18) which propel the matter towards a conveyor. Intended particularly for the removal of floating fat, steam or hot water jets are used. The helical conveyor (9) is housed in an enclosure (6) of semi-circular cross-section which may be rotated to adjust the height of the rim (7). The solid matter passes from the conveyor into a tank which is heated periodically for removal of the fat. The process facilitates simple, non-manual disposal of fat without the heavy water consumption of homogenisation.
