<p>1526063 Parental infusion apparatus OTSUKA PHARMACEUTICAL FACTORY INC 19 Sept 1975 [26 Sept 1974 (2) 23 Oct 1974 11 Nov 1974] 38464/75 Heading A5R [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for administering parental solutions comprises a flexible plastics container 1, which is provided with a sealed outlet nozzle 2 having peripheral external grooving 4 defining a severable tip portion, and a feed device 7 having an injection needle 6 at one end and a resiliently-expandible socket 5 at the other, the socket being provided a latching means or a bead 10 interengageable with further grooving 9 in the nozzle after the tip portion has been served to releasablycouple the device to the nozzle. As shown, the socket is of resiliently expandible plastics in the form of drip chamber provided at the end of feed tubing mounting a flow control clamp 8. In a modification, Figs. 8-10 (not shown), the socket is the form of a coupling sleeve having nozzle-engaging latching fingers 12, which are resiliently expandable on squeezing of the sleeve at its opposite end 13, and a rigid plastics cannula 11. Instead of the nozzle being integrally-formed with the container, Fig. 1, it may be joined thereto by H F. or ultrasonic welding together flanges 3a, 3b. In a further modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the severable nozzle tip is shaped to form a replaceable nozzle closure plug after severance.</p> |
