A granulating apparatus comprises an elongated tube 11 having an air blower 12 at one end and receiving a continuous flow of particles at 17 and of moisture, e.g. steam, at 19 and being connected at the other end to a collector 13 below which is a drying means 21. The collector 13 comprises a cyclone and is connected to the blower 12 through a return pipe 14 which like the tube 11 is composed of sections so that the apparatus can be of an adjustable length, the blower 12 and adjacent parts being adjustable along a track 20 for this purpose. The drying unit 21 comprises a chamber receiving hot air from a heater 26 and having an air outlet 23 and a product outlet 24 controlled by a valve 28. The exhaust air is drawn from the chamber 23 into a separation cyclone 30 by a fan 25. In another example the drying unit comprises a vibrated feed tray and hot air blower. |
