<p>A tank wagon, esp. rail tank wagon, is intended for transporting liquids, powders or gaseous substances, esp. those of an aggressive nature. The tank is internally lined. This internal protective lining is of multi-layer form, the innermost layer being made of foil and one other layer being of electrically conducting elements connected to an electric meter. In a preferred arrangement, the tank wall (8) is followed, in succession, by a bonded insulating layer (11), the electrically conducting layer (12) and a sealing foil (13). The insulating layer and sealing foil are pref. of PTFE or similar material, the insulating layer being sprayed onto the tank wall (8) and the sealing foil being connected to it at intervals. The objective of the electrically conducting layer (12) is for use as a leak detector by changes in electrical current registered at the meter. This layer may be a two-component metal paint, for example a lead dust paint on an epoxy basis on an epoxy basis.</p> |
