Oats mashing machine - with reciprocating inner cone and stationary outer cone

A machine to mash oats for horses or other ruminating animals consists of a vertical outer cone and a vertical inner cone with a common axis. The inner cone has a conical cover on which the oats are charged. It can be reciprocated in the vertical direction to produce an oscillating gap between it and the stationary outer cone to crush the cereals. This is a simple mashing device which requires little power and utilises the sliding properties of the soft core in the brittle husk to the best advantage.
