The subject matter of the invention are time measuring instruments for displaying time cycles not subject to the normal 24-hour rhythm, in particular tide meters, lunar phase clocks and other astronomical clocks, which are constructed in such a way that use is made of a normal clockwork having quartz control, that this clockwork is driven by a quartz crystal which is detuned with respect to a normal clock quartz, and that use is made, if appropriate, on the output side of the clockwork, of an additional gear chain, in particular a speed reducer coupled to a 24-hour wheel of the clockwork and having a corresponding transmission ratio. In this case, a plurality of time measuring instruments can be combined to form a unit. <IMAGE>
