PURPOSE:To obtain uniform transferred images with high image density irrespectively of the rugged state of the surface of a transfer material and to receive no restrictions in the quality of the transfer material by applying electric fields on the surface of an image carrier prior to transferring after wet type developing in the direction where the toners carried thereon space from the surface of the image carrier in the liquid developer. CONSTITUTION:Prior to transferring after developing, electrical fields are applied to toner images in the direction where the toners space from the surface of a photosensitive layer 11 to allow the toners to migrate electrially toward the surface of a dispersion medium and to move to the positions where the transfer time is shortest so that when the transfer is started by superposing a transfer material on the layer 11 the toners stick immediately on the surface of the transfer material. Even with the transfer material having considerably high oil absorptivity, the time when the electrophoresis of the toners is completed is shorter than the time when the dispersion medium penetrates into the transfer material and the images formed are more uniform and have higher density irrespectively of the rugged state of the surface of the transfer paper. Further, the abnormal images such as double images and ground stains are prevented and the perfrmance of transfer is improved. |
