APPARATUS OF MANUFACTURING FLUORESCENT LAMPS

In the prodn. of luminescent tubes, a suspension is prepd. by adding a phosphor(I) and an alkali metal phosphate and/or borate as adhesion promotor(II) to an aq. soln. of a polyethylene oxide(PEO) or fatty ester. This is passed through a 50-300 micron mesh filter and sprayed onto the inside of a glass tube. The coating is then fired at a temp. not exceeding the softening point of the glass, the glass tube being supported during firing.
