PURPOSE:To process a character string stored in a storage device at a high speed by storing the 1st character string group as a temporary file and the 2nd character string group as a permanent field, and giving different prescribed bits regarding those character string groups. CONSTITUTION:Two groups each brought under file control individually are provided; one group is used as a permanent file 30, and the other is used as a temporary file 31. The file number 33 of the permanent file 30 has the 1st bit set invariably to 1, and the file number 34 of the temporary file 31 has the 1st bit set invariably to 0. For this purpose, the state of the leftmost bit of each file number is checked to reduce the number of files to be searched for during file detection for control nearly to half. |
