PURPOSE:To simultaneously photograph a neutron picture and a gamma ray picture under the same geometrical condition and through one-operation, by using a single ray source for radiating both a neutron and gamma rays. CONSTITUTION:Detectors 5A and 5B for a gamma ray picture and a neutron picture, respectively, are juxtaposed with each other and placed in the same cassette, and the utilization of a 252 Cf ray source enables the simultaneous radiography of a neutron and gamma rays. For example, an X-ray film, nipped between two lead foils, is used as the detector 5A for gamma rays, and the combination of a scintillator, which is prepared by mixing together lithium fluoride, zinc sulfide, and organic glass, and an X-ray film is used as the detector 5B for a neutron picture. As a result, if a specified material 1A containing an element having a high absorption of a neutron such as hydrogen and a metal material 1B are concealed in an object 1 to be photographed, the presence of the metal material 1B concealed in the material 1A containing hydrogen and a relative position relation between the two materials can be clearly found from the two pictures of A and B. |
