Continuous electrically conducting liq. level measurement device - has alternate prim. and sec. coils on soft iron core

A continuous level measurement device for electrically conducting liquids (2) operates inductively using several prim. coils (7) stimulated by a constant a.c. and several sec. coils (8) whose induced voltages are monitored. The voltage induced in the secondary coils is negligible when they are immersed. The device is simply constructed, can be interchanged in operation, and can operate at high temp., e.g. 600 deg. C. Several prim. (7) and sec. (8) coils are wound alternately on a rod-shaped soft iron core (4). They are wound in annular slots (5) on the core. All prim. coils are connected together and all sec. coils are connected together via axial connectors. Each coil may consist of a single winding. The core is hollow and/or has a longitudinal slot (6) to damp out eddy currents in the core.
