PURPOSE:To obtain desired braking forces by optimum operation by a method in which a magnetic material moving reciprocally according to the stepping of a brake pedal and a magnet to attract the magnetic material are provided and the current to be supplied to the magnet is controlled so as to make it a set boosting characteristic. CONSTITUTION:When a brake pedal 1 is stepped in, the piston 8 of an oil- pressure cylinder 2 is pushed in the direction of (a) through a rod 7, a power piston 5, and a push rod 9. At the same time, the brake switch 12 turns ON to operate a control circuit 14. By the control circuit 14, electric current is supplied to the magnet 10 of the brake booster 3 and the magnetic material 11 on the periphery of the power piston 5 is attracted by the magnet 10. The piston 8 is thus boosted by the electromagnetic force and pushed. The stroke of the rod 7 is detected by a stroke detector 13 and its signal is put in the controller 14 where electric current supplied to the magnet 10 is controlled in such a way as to give the stroke a certain characteristic. |
