In a method of establishing the detonation properties of a gelatinous explosive of correct proportionate composition, especially in the form of cartridges, it is proposed according to the invention that the explosive is exposed to the sphere of a gas under a pressure exceeding normal atmospheric pressure and the detonation properties are then established or re-established by utilising the atmospheric pressure for reducing the density of the explosive.
