PURPOSE:To position exactly the contact surfaces of the 1st and 2nd pads in a joint part in the stage of pressing the 1st and 2nd pads in the rear part and ouside circumferential part in the joint part of a joggle type by lightly pressing the joint part by the contact surfaces of said pads. CONSTITUTION:A joint part 3 of a loop panel 1 and a rear quarter outer panel 2 are sandwiched between the 1st pad 31 and the 2nd pad 34, and the contact surface 32, 35 of the contact members 33, 36 of both pads 31, 34 are pressed to the rear part 5 and outside circumferential part 8 in the joint part 3, then both pads 31, 34 are closed and the pad 34 is restrained by a clamp 42. A joining jig 55 is finely adjusted to press exactly the surfaces 32, 35 in the prescribed positions on the front and rear of the part 3. The member 33 is kept energized by the energizing force of a coil spring 49 under not so much strong force in the direction of the member 36 and therefore the position is easily accomlished without damaging the periphery in the joint part. A piston member 45 is then projected from a pressing cylinder 44 to bring the member 33 into press contact with the rear part 5, thereby performing joining. |
