发明名称 Gear for washing machines
摘要 1,045,814. Change-speed gear; friction and ratchet clutches. FICHTEL & SACHS A.G. Oct. 7, 1964 [Oct. 8, 1963], No. 40882/64. Headings F2C and F2D. [Also in Division D1] A two-speed gear in a washing machine comprises an input shaft 1 driving a sun-gear 3 meshing planet pinions 5 in turn meshing a reaction ring-gear 4, a step-down drive being obtained for washing from the carrier 7 through a roller ratchet clutch 11 and a shaft 2 mounting a driven pulley 14. For spin drying, the speed of a motor powering the input shaft 1 is increased, so that a mass 17 at the end of a shaft 15 rotating with the input shaft flies centrifugally outwards against the bias of a spring 22. The mass 17 is engaged by the end 32 of a helically coiled clutch spring 19, secured to the enlarged end 16 of the shaft 15. As the mass 17 flies outwards, it abuts a tab 21 at the end of a coil spring 20 frictionally gripping the hub of the driven pulley 14, which is rotating at the slower speed of the planet carrier 7. The helical coil clutch spring 19 is then contracted onto the end of the shaft 2, provided it is rotating in the correct direction, and direct drive is obtained, the ratchet clutch 11 over-running. The ratchet clutch 11, Fig. 3 (not shown), comprises rollers in a cage 12 restrained against rotation by a light friction drag spring 13. The rollers lie within pockets in the hub of the planet carrier 7 and engage the cylindrical outer surface of the shaft 2. Thus rotation of the planet carrier 7 in either direction transmits drive to the shaft 2, whereas the shaft 2 can rotate freely in either direction relative to the planet carrier 7.
