PURPOSE:To obtain urokinase, in high efficiency, by contacting a urokinase- containing liquid with ultrafine powder of anhydrous silica having silanol group at the surface, and washing and eluting the powder adsorbed with urokinase. CONSTITUTION:A urokinase-containing liquid such as human urine is adjusted to 6-9pH (especially 7.5-8.5pH) and the produced precipitate is separated by centrifugal separation, etc. to obtain a clear liquid. The liquid is made to contact with anhydrous silica particles having particle diameter of <=10mu and having silanol group at the surface to adsorb urokinase from the liquid. The anhydrous silica particle is those containing >=99% of silicon dioxide and trace of aluminum oxide and titanium oxide. The anhydrous silica particle adsorbed with urokinase is washed with a buffer solution having a salt concentration of 0.1- 0.3M to elute the adsobed urokinase.
