A method of filling thermoplastic material with a reinforcing material wherein the thermoplastic material is supplied in granulate form and is melted in screw-type extrusion apparatus, and wherein additional granulate and then the reinforcing material are supplied separately to the melt in the mixing section of the extrusion apparatus, characterized in that the additional granulate (34) is homogenously blended with the melt by mixing and keneading elements (13, 28) provided between the sites of introduction (12, 14) for the additional granulate (34) and the reinforcing material (35), and in that in the process the additional granulate is melted superficially only to the extent of still being solid interiorly in the area of introduction of the reinforced material (35).
