A packing containing a stack of sheets, such as sheets of paper, in the form of an envelope (2) made from sheet material such as paper, plastics or plastics-coated paper, which is folded around the stack and closed with flaps (3) at each end face of the stack, the edges of the sheet material forming the envelope (2) being overlapped on one of the major faces of the stack, in which the envelope (2) is provided with at least two rows of perforations (6) which between them define a tear strip (7) to facilitate the opening thereof.
