An apparatus suitable for rinsing fine particles and designed to produce a uniform spray comprises a feed device and provided with an elongated outlet and adapted to supply water to an inclined trough 1 having a plurality of alternate inclined and flat plates, 6 and 5 respectively. The corrugated plates 6 are fitted to rods 7 pivotally mounted in bearings in the side walls 2, 3 of the trough and the positions of the plates 6 are adjusted so that the inclination of successive plates 6 with respect to the horizontal increases towards the bottom of the trough. The plates 5 are all parallel and the plates 5 and 6 so overlap that an even spray distribution is produced through the discharge gaps. The water is distributed over both transverse edges of the final corrugated plate 6b. A flange on each plate 5 engages its adjacent bar 7 to provide sealing and the profiles of adjacent plates 6 are staggered with respect to each other.</p> |
