PURPOSE:To prevent generation of blow holes and surface roughening in the stage of producing a casting by using a consumable casting pattern having a joint part by repairing the gap and damaged part in the joint part or on the surface of the prototype with a specifically composed coating material. CONSTITUTION:A consumable casting pattern 7 is constituted of split bodies 1a, 1b, etc. consisting of a resin foam such as expanded polystyrene beads or the like having 0.016-0.1g/cc bulk density and said bodies are joined by an adhesive agent 2 or adhesive tape 3 in the stage of casting a tubular member such as a cast iron pipe or the like by using said pattern 7. The gap 5 made in the joint part or the damage 4 on the surface is repaired with a coating material 6 having the following compsn. The coating material 6 consisting of 65-99wt% particles of the same kind of metal as the metal to be casf or a metal having affinity thereto and 1-35wt% an adhesive resin consisting of a liquid thermosetting resin, an aq. emulsion of a thermoplastic resin or the solvent thereof which is evaporated and expended by the molten metal to be cast is used for the repair. The generation of blow holes, and surface roughening in the casting is prevented by using the above-mentioned consumable casting pattern. |
