PURPOSE:To obtain a titled work roll capable of using in common for every stand by forming the roll outer layer constituted of two layers by using two kinds of steels consisting respectively of Fe and specific percentages of C, Si, Mn, P, S, Ni, Cr, and Mo. CONSTITUTION:The 1st outer layer is formed by using a material, having excellent resistances to crack and surface roughening and consisting of, in wt%, 2.0-3.2% C, 0.3-1.0% Si, 0.5-1.5% Mn, <=0.1% P, <=0.08% S, 0.5-2.0% Ni, 10-25% Cr, 0.3-3.0% Mo, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The 2nd outer layer is formed by using a material having resistances to wear, seizure, and crack, and consisting of, in wt%, 2.4-3.4% C, 2.0-3.4% Si, 0.5- 1.5% Mn, <=0.1% P, <=0.08% S, 4.5-10% Ni, 0.5-10% Cr, 0.4-1.5% Mo, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The outer layer of a composite roll is formed by metallurgically welding said layers in one body so as to lay the 1st layer outside. |
