Improved tray, particularly for the packaging of food products. Tray produced by the thermoforming of thin rigid materials, comprising a bottom having a generally rectangular shape or a similar shape with two perpendicular axes of symmetry, and side walls in relief with vertical ribs and ending with an external peripheral rim. On at least two opposite side walls 3 or 4, the ribs 6 of constant pitch P3 or P4 and of depth greater than the relief of the walls are offset in the direction of one of the other two opposite walls 4 or 3 and the ribs 6, 6a have, at their upper ends an internal step 8 of depth P5 greater than the difference in depth of the ribs and the relief of the walls. <IMAGE>
