PURPOSE:To measure the color of a picture tube objectively, quickly and automatically by picking up a screen of a color television receiver to be checked with a photoelectric converting element, using a prescribed coefficient in response to the spectral sensisitity of the photoelectric converting element so as to obtain tristimulus values and using the photoelectric converting element without negative component in the spectral sensitivity so as to obtain a chromaticity coordinate to a color of screen. CONSTITUTION:A test pattern of the color television picture tube to be checked is picked up by a black/white television camera 3 via an optical color filter 2 transmitting only a monochroic color, the result is fed to an analog-digital converter 4, where the signal is converted into a 8-bit digital signal representing, e.g., 256 gradations of 0-255 and fed to a product sum operator 6. A filter converter 8 replaces the optical color filter 2 into the any of three kinds of red (R), green (G) and blue (B) filters under the control from a central processing unit 7. The chromaticity coordinate of the color at each position of the screen of the color television receiver 1 to be checked is calculated by using the tristimulus values X, Y and Z obtained in this way. |
