PURPOSE:To cast continuously a steel contg. Bi or Pb at a specific rate without foaming, exploding and scattering by pouring a molten steel from a ladle into a casting mold, adding a deoxidizing agent thereto to maintain an oxygen content at a specific value or below and charging continuously an adequate amt. of Bi or Pb after the start of continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:A molten steel is poured from a ladle into a casting mold and metallic Al is added to either the ladle or casting mold until the concn. of the Al in the molten steel attains >=0.001%, thereby adjusting the oxygen activity in the molten steel to <=140ppm. Continuous casting is then started and an adequate amt. of a Bi or Pb component is continuously charged into the ladle or casting mold to form the steel contg. 0.02-0.5wt% Bi or Pb. If said component is added under such conditions, the continuous casting is stably operated without foaming in the steel and without small explosion and scattering in the stage of addition. |
