PURPOSE:To provide the titled molding material which has excellent resistance to moisture and water and little undergoes hydrolysis under treating conditions such as moistening or boiling treatment conditions over a long period of time, consisting of a nearly neutral base material and an unsaturated polyester resin component. CONSTITUTION:At least one base material (e.g. kaolin clay, sericite, CaSO4 or a synthetic fiber such as nylon or vinylon) giving an aqueous extract having a pH of 6.5-7.5, obtd. by adding 100pts.wt. distilled water to 5pts.wt. said base material and boiling the mixture, is used. The titled molding material consists of 50- 500pts.wt. said base material and 100pts.wt. (the combined quantity of alkyd resin and a crosslinking monomer) unsaturated polyester resin component. By choosing a base material having a nearly neutral pH value, hydrolysis can be prevented from taking place and a dry material having excellent resistance to moisture and water can be obtd.
