PURPOSE:To largely reduce the floor area of a facility and improve the productivity by annealing a belt-like continuous unwoven fabric made of metal fibers in the first furnace provided with an inclined stationary plate then sintering it in the inclined second furnace. CONSTITUTION:A belt-like unwoven fabric 2 made of metal fibers is introduced into the first electric furnace provided with an inclined stationary plate and is shifted so that no force more than its self weight is applied, the air in the unwoven fabric 2 is substituted in a gas substituting room 8, and the unwoven fabric 2 is heated and annealed in a heating room 9, then it is cooled and taken out. Next, it is compressed to a predetermined thickness with press rolls 4, is introduced into the second electric furnace 5 provided with an inclined stationary plate, and is sintered in the heating room 9 to form a conductive core for alkaline battery. Therefore, by inclining the electric furnaces 3, 5, the floor area of a facility is largely reduced, no tensile force is applied to the unwoven fabric 2, thus preventing the cutting, etc., and the productivity can be improved. |
