PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a crack and the oxidation abrasion and to improve the life of a lance for flux injection by using alumina refractories incorporated therein with a specific ratio of C, SiC and SiO2 for lining of said lance. CONSTITUTION:The refractories of the compsn. contg. 10-15wt% C, 8-12% SiC and <=10% SiO2 and consisting of the balance substantially alumina are used for lining in the sheath of the lance for flux injection for pretreatment of a molten iron. The crack to be generated in the lance refractories as a result of a difference in thermal expansion between said refractories and pipe sheath as well as the oxidation abrasion by the effect of iron oxide are hardly generated by such lining. The life of the lance is thus enhanced. |
