PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive material having highly stable quality and high blue sensitivity and undergoing little variance in sensitivity due to uneven stagnation of a coating liq. by using a sensitizing dye having a specified structural formula and hydrophilic colloid contg. a prescribed amount of gelatin having a prescribed saturation solubility. CONSTITUTION:At least one hydrophilic colloidal layer contg. silver halide particles sensitized spectrally with a sensitizing dye is formed on a support. The hydrophilic colloid in the colloidal layer contains >=35wt% gelatin having <=10 saturation solubility. The sensitizing dye used is selected among compounds represented by formula I and/or formula II (where each of Z11, Z12 and Z21 is a group of atoms required to form a benzoxazole ring or the like; Z22 is a group of atoms required to form a rhodanine ring or the like; each of R11, R12, R21 and R22 is alkyl or the like; R13 is H, methyl or the like; X1<-> is an anion; and l=0 or 1). A change in sensitivity due to uneven stagnation of a coating liq. is reduced, and the effect of the sensitizing dye added to the coating liq. is enhanced.
