PURPOSE:To enable the measurement of displacement with limited error, by lowering a second rod to a first rod as a measuring head is pushed down with the deflection of a sample to output the mean of total of outputs of a set of differential transformers. CONSTITUTION:The upper part of a column 1 from a nut 1c is arranged in a heating furnace 22. Then, the intermediate part of a sample S supported on a pair of support rollers 10 and 10 is forced to deflect downward with a pressure element 21 so that a measuring header 13 lowers against a compression spring 16. In other words, a second rod 15 is displaced to a first rod 12, so to speak, mobile cores 18a and 18a of differential transformers 18 and 18 are done so to bodies 18b and 18b. The measuring header 13 lowers with some inclination depending on the difference in deflection generated during the time, but the movement is absorbed as mean of the total outputs from left and right differential transformers 18 and 18 to determine the Young's modulus of the sample from the mean. Then, the rod 15 is displaced properly with the rod 12 so arranged as not to be affected by the distortion of the column 1 thereby enabling the measurement of displacement with limited errors. |
