PURPOSE:To permit to eliminate an error in a difference between a set temperature and the temperature of outlet hot-water, discharged actually, and to use a shower or the like comfortably by a method wherein a water control valve is provided in a water path and the amount of water, which is capable of being heated to the set temperature, is operated based on the set temperature and a combustion capacity while the water control valve is controlled so as to obtain the operated amount of water. CONSTITUTION:The titled heater is provided with a plurality of gas burners 2a-2e, heating the heat exchanger 1 and combustible separately, a feed water temperature detector 6, provided in the water path 7 communicated with the heat exchanger, a water amount detector 8 and a controller 15, setting the combustion capacities of the burners based on the feed water temperature and the amount of water, which are detected by the detectors, and the set temperature. The water control valve 9 is provided in the water path 7 to operate the amount of water, capable of being heated to the set temperature, based on the set temperature and the combustion capacities and control the water control valve 9 so as to obtain the operated amount of water. In the controller 15, the combustion capacities of the burners 2a-2e are set based on the signals and the burners 2a-2e are ignited in accordance with the capacities while the amount of water, which is capable of being heated to the set temperature, is operated based on the combustion capacities and set temperature and the water control valve 9 is controlled so as to obtain the operated amount of water.
