PURPOSE:To improve the recording and reproducing sensitivity and to reduce the winding impedance while keeping a mechanical strength to form a vertical magnetic head superior in frequency characteristic by arranging a magnetic member (yoke part) only on one side of a main magnetic pole film. CONSTITUTION:Though a conventional vertical magnetic head has two yoke parts, a vertical magnetic head 20 has only a yoke part 22A0 on one side face of a main magnetic pole film 24. If the thickness of this yoke part 22A0 is equalized to the thickness of each yoke part of the conventional vertical magnetic head, the practical thickness of the yoke part in the magnetic head 20 is reduced to a half, and not only the sensitivity for magnetic recording and reproducing is improved but also the winding impedance is reduced while keeping the mechanical strength, and the magnetic head 20 is superior in frequency characteristic. |
